State Polo: Khurai-B, Teckcham march into next stage comfortably

Khurai Polo Club (KPC) (B) and Tekcham Polo Club (TPC) comfortably overcame their respective opponents in the group match in the 31st State Level Polo Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung on Wednesday.
With the win KPC advance into the quarter final while Tekchma Polo Club moves into the pre quarter final.
The first match of the day was the pre quarterfinal match between KPC and Thoubal District Polo Club (TPC) (B) .
K Romeo strike two goals to settle the nerves of Khurai team and provide the initial lead in the first chukker.
Thoubal PC (B) players tried hard to reduce the margin but they could not pass the security cover of the Khurai goal line.
Khurai PC continued to mount the pressure on Thoubal territory in the second chukker.
Though Thoubal players defended hard, Th Premkumar broke their resistance when he turns around his marker and fires a goal to consolidate the lead for Khuarai Polo Club.
By the end of second chukker KPC leads TPC (B) by 3-0 .

In the penultimate chukker, TPC players did not lose hard and tried to come back in the match by raiding the Khurai territory.
The raids results in one goal from Th Moramba and provide a positive aspect to the TPC team.
On the contrary, Khuarai roamed in two goals through Th Premkumar and Th Premjit to dust any hope of Thoubal comeback.
Before the final chukker Khurai consolidate the lead by 5-1 goals.
In the final chukker Khurai kept a clean slate and added more goal to the team's score through Th Premjit and peacefully walk into the quarterfinal.
In the quarterfinal Khurai PC (B) will face the winner of Chingkheihunba Polo Club (CPC) (B) and Manipur Police Sporting Club (MPSC) (B) .
In the other match between seasoned players of Tekcham Polo Club (TPC) and budding players of K&MM Riding School (C), pre quarterfinal spot was at stake, TPC trounced K&MM by 9-1 goals.
The young players got a measure of their polo skills and talent from the experienced Teckcham players.
Tekcham players taught the young players some of the finer points of polo.
Kh Tombi; S Sadananda and S Dhaneshwor pumped in one goal each.
K&MM also fought hard and scored a goal through L Rohit thereby reduces the margin to two-goal deficit.
TCP lead the first chukker by 3-1 .
The second chukker was no different, S Ranjit and S Sadananda strikes one goal each to take the total score to 5 goals.
K&MM players were forced to hunt the ball in the chukker.
After the break, S Sadananda scored two goals to take his personal score to four while Kh Tombi and S Ibohal added one each to take the total score to 9.In the onslaught of Teckcham players, young K&MM players could not resist much during the entire period of third chukker.
The final chukker was a complete contrast to the previous chukkers.
Tekcham plays did not go for the goals rather decided to spend some quality time in the field and completed the match in 9-1 for a place in pre quarterfinal.
On Thursday, K&MM (B) will take on MPSC (B) while KPC (A) lock horns with K&MM (A) .
