Imphal, October 26 2021:
Fear grips Heirok Assembly Constituency over the uncertainties of what violence might strike in the next moment.
Addressing a press briefing at Manipur Press Club, one Thokchom Noren from Heirok Part-II Thokchom Leikai whose properties were allegedly destroyed in a pre-poll violence, stated that he took shelter elsewhere yesterday as his daughter informed about the alleged vandalism at his house.
Stating that he returned home this morning, Noren added that his house was found in a pitiable condition and his family members in a depressing state, Noren claimed that the attackers also looted their money and gold ornaments.
"According to my family members, the attack was carried out by a team led by his relatives Th Dhruv, Th Shamchand and Th Sambi," he claimed.
Saying that nothing worthwhile can be achieved by threatening people who support a certain candidate, he asked Th Dhruv, Th Shamchand and Th Sambi to take full responsibility if something bad happens to him.
He also said that he would lodge a complaint to the police station concerned.
Daughter of Noren, Supriya stated that the attackers also vandalised three other houses.
Meanwhile, the State Government has deployed Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and Manipur Police at Heirok Assembly Constituency.
Reportedly, a company each of BSF and CRPF has been deployed at Heirok while additional IRB personnel have been directed to keep strict vigil in the area.
District Magistrate Thoubal had already clamped restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC in the entire Heirok AC to prevent any violent incidents.
