Man runs office at Ukhrul alone!

Ukhrul, October 26 2021:
District Industrial Centre (DIC) office of both Ukhrul and Kamjong districts is being manned by one General Manager only without any subordinate officers and staff.
Speaking to this correspondent, AS Ayo, GM of DIC, Ukhrul who is also incharge of Kamjong district expressed the problems and the practical difficulties he faces in running the offices.
AS Ayo stated that he is unable to discharge his duty efficiently as there is no subordinate officer and staff to assist him.
He also said that no replacement has been sent for DIC, Ukhrul staff who have retired.
Saying that DIC, Ukhrul should have 73 staff, he added that only 5 staff including him were posted in the district.
Claiming that four of them have also transferred to other districts years back, AS Ayo said that only he now runs Ukhrul and Kamjong DIC office.
According to the GM, manager, system managers, project officers, functional managers, computer operators, clerical staff and fourth grade are supposed to be posted for smooth functioning of the office.
Expressing that he had approached the head office to send the staff for Ukhrul many times, he claimed that the higher authority has done nothing to resolve the issue.
DIC Ukhrul is also to be established in a separate area but no land has been acquired for the same yet, he continued.
The GM also mentioned that at least 7 acres of land is required for construction of an office complex, cool storage house, guest house, cluster type training centre, staff quarter etc of the DIC Ukhrul.
Saying that the DIC is imparting vocational training such as tailoring, weaving, knitting, carpentry etc to the unemployed youths of the district, he added that the DIC Ukhrul has provided assistance to over 4200 persons for self employment.
