Heirok victim seeks clarification

Thokchom Noren of Heirok Part-II Thokchom Leikai, one of the people whose house was burnt down by people clad in black clothes, has sought an explanation on why he along with 3 others was beaten up and their houses destroyed.
Speaking during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club here Tuesday, Noren recounted that he was not at home at the time of the incident which happened around 7.30 pm Monday.
His daughter had called him and told him not to return home.
Some group of people clad in black clothes had not only set fire on his home and that of his relatives, namely, Romen, Romeo and Apik, but also destroyed the properties.
Urging the person(s) responsible to clarify, Noren recalled that the group went to Romen and Romeo's residences and started a fight.
They went on to ransack the houses and afterwards, set the residences on fire, leaving the families homeless.
The group then attacked his (Noren) house and did the same.
He further conveyed said that the group did not even spare the women including one pregnant woman named Kalpana.
Appealing to the state government and the home department to look into the matter, Noren said that a citizen has the right to vote for whom they want during the election.
He then appealed to all concerned not to try and make someone vote by force, even if they are related by blood.
