MHJU denounces attack on journalist

The Manipur Hills Journalists' Union (MHJU) vehemently condemned the brutal assault of journalist Elangbam Rameshwor, Thoubal Correspondent for Naharolgi Thoudang on October 24 by unidentified miscreants.
The media fraternity is shocked and pained to witness such act of frequently attacking the journalist and demand immediate justice to the victim, said a release of MHJU president Peter Adani and secretary S Nengkhanlun.
"MHJU views the incident seriously and appeals to the state government to book those involved and provide assistance to the victim who has to be treated medically," said the release.
The Union also urged authorities concerned to take up the matter seriously,'book culprits behind the attack and take immediate necessary action.
It said: "It is disheartening to note that, journalists in their line of duty are not safe and frequently harmed".
The MHJU while expressing-solidarity with Elangbam Rameshwor and his family members also extended moral support to Naharolgi Thoudang newspaper.
