Meetei Marup has spoken out against the intended plan of action to get rid of the sacred sites of Nongshaba, Ema Yumjao Lairembi and Ibudhou Pakhangba to build a storage site to keep religious items used during Rath Yatra.
A press release issued by Meetei Marup today has called for the State Government's attention to this matter, urging them to halt all actions in this regard at once.
The statement added that this matter could sow seeds of prejudice between Meeteis who follow different religions and become a cause for enmity between the two groups.
Meetei Marup also stressed upon the importance of these sacred sites stating that these places have held religious and cultural significance for centuries.
Further Meetei Marup has expressed their intent to stage agitations if the Government does not take up any actions.
