Imphal, October 26 2021:
While clarifying that Khurai AC MLA L Susindro has never threatened to stop distributing rice or remove beneficiaries from the list, NFSA beneficiaries of Phaknung Sangomshang Polling Station 3/7 have stated that accusations are being flung by some group of people with ill-intentioned reasons.
Addressing media persons at Phaknung Sangomshang on Tuesday, Phaknung Meira Paibi president Thoudam Ruhini said that MLA Susindro had been working to develop Polling Station 3/7 and improve the conditions of the people, well before he was elected as an MLA.
Even after becoming an MLA, Susindro has not stopped working for the people.
As such, it is unfortunate to witness some people who have come forward to contest in the elections, attempting to disrepute the local MLA, she stated, while urging all concerned not to repeat such acts in the locality.
One of the NFSA beneficiaries named Khoisnam Abema informed that the locals were completely unaware of another candidate's (L Jayananda) plan to hold a meeting in the locality on Saturday last.
The locals had attended the meeting under the assumption that it was a meeting of the locality, but later came to realise it was a meeting of the candidate.
Refuting the claims made during the meeting that some beneficiaries had revealed about MLA Susindro threatening to withhold the NFSA rice and delate names from the list of beneficiaries; Abema condemned the usage of the beneficiaries' names for the self-interests of some people, adding that they have never appealed to Jayananda to provide rice.
She then said that of the five "threatened" beneficiaries, Mayengbam Abe, K Kamala and she herself were handed over the NFSA card by the MLA in person.
