Imphal, June 15 2015 :
Following the June 4 ambush on Indian Army at Paraolon, almost all the villagers have abandoned their homesteads and the village looked totally deserted except for some pet animals like dogs and cats and those animals looked starved and sick.
This was stated by Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur State Branch Secretary Dr Y Mohen.
Speaking to media persons at their MG avenue office today, Dr Mohen said that they went to Paraolon village of Chandel district a few days back together with a team of Disaster Relief Committee.
The ambush site is just one kilometer from Paraolon village.
When the team reached the village, no one was found there.
The only living beings found in the village were just three dogs and four/five cats.
A few other chickens could also be seen.
On approaching the village, security forces stationed at the adjoining area questioned the team the purpose of visiting the village.
It was after a detailed explanation that the team was allowed to enter the village.
Quoting some security personnel, Dr Mohen said that security forces stationed in the area and Paraolon villagers have been sharing a very cordial relationship since the past three years.
Referring to the deadly June 4 ambush, they (security forces) questioned if they are not entitled to human rights which are said to be universal.
As there was no one to feed them, all the pets looked starved and sick.
All of them would perish in the next couple of days if nobody takes care of them immediately.
The matter has been apprised to the People For Animal (PFA).
It is reported that PFA volunteers would be going to Paraolon shortly, conveyed Dr Mohen while appealing to all the security agencies not to deny PFA volunteers access to Paraolon village.
Notably, Paraolon village has around 60 households with a total population of 310 .
