The two-day brain-storming session which began yesterday at Congress Bhavan here concluded today with the constitution of a 16-member political affairs committee.
Announcing the formation of the political affairs committee to media today, MPCC spokesman N Bupenda said that the brain-storming session was held to start preparations for the next Lok Sabha election which is due in 2024 with the primary objective of bringing back Congress party to power both at the Centre and the State.
MPCC president K Meghachandra, CLP leader Okram Ibobi, CWC Member Gaikhangam, CLP deputy leader K Ranjit, MPCC chief whip L Lokeshore, MPCC general secretary Surjakumar Okram, former MPCC president TN Haokip, former Minister M Okendro, former MP Dr T Meinya, MPCC working president Victor Keishing, former MLA I Hemochandra, ex-MLA AK Mirabai, former MLA Dr Kh Ratankumar, former MLA MD Amin Shah, MPCC vice-president Hareswar Goswami and MPCC spokesman N Bhupenda are the members of the political affairs committee.
Taking out a 75 Kms long padayatra (march) as a part of celebrating the 75th year of Indian independence starting from August 9 and finalisation of the jurisdictions and constituencies of Mandal Congress committees were some resolutions adopted during the two-day session.
Holding a big event at Imphal on August 15 to mark the 75th Independence Day, filling up the vacant posts of Mandal, Block, District and State level committees by November 15 and launching protest movements against price hike and other issues were some other resolutions adopted during the two-day brain-storming session, Bhupenda said.
