Imphal, June 02 2022:
Stressing the need for state farmers to join the changing global agricultural market scenario, Green Foundation Manipur CEO U Himat has said that efforts to make Manipur self-reliant particularly in food production would be worthless if farmers of the land continue to remain as usual.
According to U Himat, there has been huge change in global agricultural market due to advancement in technology and state farmers need to take part in the changing scenario or else efforts to make Manipur self-reliant in food production would not be successful.
He also stressed the need for development of proper market for indigenous products so that agriculture products of the state could be sold outside the state as well as to abroad effectively.
U Himat stated this during a consultative training on 'Understanding compliances and equity shares for board of directors of farmer producers' company under Mission Organic Value Chain Development for the North East region' jointly organised by Green Foundation and Chakpi Organic Producers' Company at the foundation's farmers' convention centre, Kwakeithel Awang Thiyam Leikai.
The consultative training was also attended by additional director (agriculture) Todinang Panmei, Chakpi OPC chairman L Jaykumar, NABAD Manipur deputy general manager Khai Siamlal Guite, MOVCDNER nodal officer (agri) Ningboi Haokip and company secretary Birda Laishram.
Share certificates for Chakpi Organic Producers' Company were also distributed at the end of the consultative training.
