Shortages hallmark of Jiri schools: Student bodies

Four student bodies of Jiribam namely AMSU, MSF, DESAM and KSA said that most of the government schools in the district are facing shortage of teaching staff and lack of infrastructures particularly desks and benches.
Informing this to media persons after a joint survey of government schools conducted by the student bodies on Tuesday, DESAM Jiribam District Council president Laishram Bilaks said that most of government schools in Jiribam district particularly primary and high schools have shortage of teachers and this huge gap between teachers and students is causing serious problem in providing quality education.
Most of the schools lack teacher for Meetei Mayek subject while several primary and high schools have inadequate benches and desks thereby congesting the classroom, he pointed out, and drew immediate attention of authority concerned to look into the matter.
He also urged authority concerned to take up steps for inaugurating Netaji High School, which has been developed under School Fagathansi Mission.
The DESAM president further urged authority concerned to look into bad condition of Jiri-Tipaimukh Road so as to mitigate inconveniences being faced by teachers and students.
He also urged teachers to attend schools regularly and warned of sending report to authority concerned if found absent.
The press conference was also attended by AMSU Jiri president Thanil Thokchom, MSF president A Ratan Singh and KSA president Chongtham Achou Singh.
