District level meeting on Project FAB held

District level meeting with stakeholders on Project 'Friends Across Barriers (FAB)', initiated by Manipur North Economic Development Association (MANEDA), Senapati was held at Jamning Valley Resort on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, MANEDA director Peter Rangnamai explained why MANEDA-FAB called a meeting of the stakeholders and sought their support while project coordinator Meveine Kazia Sousho informed that the Project FAB is funded by Terre Des Hommes (TDH), Germany.
Talking about the objectives, the project coordinator mentioned that it aims to raise awareness on understanding of children's rights, gender justice and peace, give children access to quality education and propagate the concept of 'conscious citizenry', help youth see a perspective future and become committed to peaceful coexistence and promote gender rights.
Overall, the project aims to contribute towards strengthening social cohesion for individuals, children and youth, Kazia Sousho said.
The project works with 16 villages and 13 schools in Senapati and Kangpokpi areas.
Several trainings for the communities and youth were highlighted during the meeting.
The project has introduced Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs) - playful participatory learning in the schools, which received positive response from the school authorities and is reportedly setting up libraries in all the villages for the children to encourage reading culture.
During the discussion hour, there were numerous suggestions placed by the stakeholders including having a hobby club, cultural exchange programmes, cleanliness drive exchange, students' exchange programme, a booklet which describes the tribes of Senapati and Kangpokpi, movie club, cultural exposure, substance abuse awareness, a career guidance cell, visiting of conflict zones in the district, library project, etc.
Senapati SP Kartik Malladi along with his wife; DFO John Sha; DSWO W Hemendra Singh; Agriculture Department EO Lavei James; student leaders including SDSA team; CWC members; religious leaders; village leaders from Zingsho, Kathikho Karong, Mao Karong, Taphou Kuki, Hengbung, Namgailong, Katomai Centre, M/Ningthoupham and Mayangkhahg Khunou also attended the meeting.
