AR joins celebration of Sajibu Cheiraoba

Imphal, April 15 2022:
Mantripukhri Battalion of HQ IGAR (South) celebrated Sajibu Cheiraoba (Meetei New Year) at Chinga Hill Temple in Imphal East district on Thursday.
In continuation with the efforts of Assam Rifles to strengthen the bond with the local populace, a special puja was organised jointly by Mandir Committee and Assam Rifles for the devotees.
The celebration was organised to mark the beginning of Meetei New Year, said a release issued by PRO IGAR (S) .
Sajibu Cheiraoba is the lunar New Year festival of the people who follow the religion of Sanamahism as well as Hindu Vishnavism.
Around 6000 devotees attended the celebration, the PRO added.
Sajibu Cheiraoba was also celebrated by 15 AR Singjamei COB.
The head pandit and locals also thanked the initiative of Assam Rifles and for allowing access to military facilities and surrounding area.
