Imphal, June 23 2022:
Churachandpur Sector Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) felicitated environment activist Rohan Agrawal (20) at Tuibong in Churachandpur district on Thursday.
Rohan Agarwal, who hails from Nagpur in Maharashtra, is undertaking a journey to spread awareness on environment conservation by walking and hitchhiking and has so far covered about 10,000 km on foot and 40,000 km across 23 states in a time span of over 660 days since he set off.
During his three days' visit to Churachandpur, he interacted with students & CSOs also commended the work done by Assam Rifles for uplifting the far flung areas of North East India, said a release of PRO IGAR (S).
During a brief interaction, he informed that he is an adherent of ancient India Gurukul culture of journey called 'Destan' to understand different religions, languages, cultures and people to broaden one's outlook on life and to be a good person.
He further said that he undertook the journey with a mission to make people aware about plastic pollution, ill effects of using plastics and also to spread the message of humanity and brotherhood to unite India.
Rohan also talked about his next mission to Siberia.
On his way to Siberia, he will cross 12-13 South Asian countries.
Presently he is also pursuing graduation through online mode, added the release.
