Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation Manipur (RNSOM) has appealed to the people for ensuring free and fair conduct of election.
In a release, RNSOM general secretary Jeanthui Panmei recalled that the organisation in its executive meeting held at Nungba HQ on January 27 adopted resolutions for ensuring free and fair election, exercising universal adult suffrage, abstaining from poll violence and maintaining peace and tranquillity.
Taking note of the election fever gripping the state and the poll-related violence especially in Rongmei dominated region, Jeanthui said that citizens should be ensured to exercise their franchise without fear and intimidation as guaranteed by the law.
All the political parties, candidates, political agents, various CSOs should refrain from threat and intimidation to the public which might fan violence, the secretary added.
RNSOM encouraged the people to participate in the assembly election and exercise their franchise to choose his/her representative and refrain from indulging in any poll related violence and ensure peace and tranquillity among the community.
