NDRF organises tree plantation drive

A tree plantation drive was carried out by Team 12-P (National Disaster Response Force Personnel) under the supervision of P Nupajao Singh, Deputy Commandant of 12 Battalion National Disaster Response Force at the surrounding areas of Leimapokpam Community Pond in Bishnupur district today.
The tree plantation drive was carried out in association with Leimapokpam Lamjing Meira Club, Nambol.
A total of 300 saplings were planted under the aegis of MHA's Akhil Bharatiya Vriksharopan Abhiyan to enhance the purity of the environment with the motto 'Mission: 1 Lakh' plantation programme of 12 National Disaster Response Force, said a statement issued by RRC Manipur 12 National Disaster Response Force.
This plantation drive will create a sense of awareness among the community for planting more trees to maintain ecological balance, climate change, clean environment free from pollution etc.
Without protecting and taking care of the environment, we are putting so many lives at risk such as animals, plants and crops etc, added the statement.
50 Jamun trees, 50 Mango trees, 50 Kathal trees, 50 Amla trees, 50 bitter 'beans (Yongchak) trees, 30 Indian Olive (Chorphon) trees and 20 Gulmohar trees were planted as a part of the plantation drive today.
