Student bodies demand death penalty

Taking serious note of the June 10 incident of kidnapping and alleged sexual assault of an 11 years old girl student by an employee of TPPL company inside a Bolero vehicle, six student bodies namely AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and AIMS have categorically stated that the person involved must be hanged till death in front of public.
According to a joint statement of the six student bodies, the incident that occurred on June 10 has shocked entire people of the state and the accused person, Rupesh Kumar Singh must be given capital punishment while others involved in the kidnapping and torture of the minor girl should be given befitting punishment by conducting fair trial in the court at the earliest.
The student bodies also appealed to authority concerned to submit charge sheet of the case to court without any delay.
While recounting the incident, the joint statement said the incident happened at Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak and both the victim and the accused resided at rented accommodation in the locality.
A joint team of the six student bodies visited the spot and talked to different people including landlords, family members of the victim and rent mates of accused Rupesh.
Narrating the finding of the joint team's independent investigation, the statement said that Rupesh was waiting for an opportune moment to eliminate the minor girl and the joint team collected enough evidences in this regard.
The minor girl went out from home at about 5pm on June 10.However, Rupesh brought the girl into his rented room and tortured her the same night inside the Bolero vehicle allotted to him by his employer TPPL company.
On the next day, the minor girl was found inside the Bolero vehicle when a person checked the vehicle as it moved without any reason, the joint statement said, adding the life of the minor girl would have been uncertain had the person not spotted her.
The joint statement further said that kidnapping and torture of a local minor girl by a non-local man must not be taken lightly and this proves that indigenous people of the land face threat even in their own land.
It also said that the incident was a result of keeping unknown people as tenants just for money and without any enquiry.
It also said that the six student bodies honour the family of the victim and the family should place truth about the incident to public without fear.
The student bodies also appealed to people to stand together with the family of the victim and not to discriminate the victim.
