NDRF plants saplings at Leimapokpam

Imphal, June 14 2021:
Team 12-P of NDRF under the supervision of deputy commandant of 12 Bn NDRF P Nupajao Singh conducted a tree plantation drive in the surrounding of Leimapokpam community pond, Bishnupur district on Monday in association with Leimapokpam Lamjing Meira Club.
According to a release, a total of 300 saplings were planted under the aegis of MHA's Akhil Bharatiya Vriksharopan Abhiyan to enhance the purity of environment with the motto "Mission: 01 Lakh" plantation programme of 12 NDRF.
The team planted 280 fruit bearing plants among which 50 are Jamun (Malabar plum), 50 mango, 50 gooseberries, 50 kathal (jackfruit), 50 yongchak (stink beans) and 30 chorphon (olive).
It also planted 20 saplings of Gulmohar which is non-fruit bearing.
This plantation drive is aimed at creating a sense of awareness among the community for planting more trees to maintain ecological imbalance, climate change, clean environment with pollution free, etc, the release said adding that without protecting and taking care of environment we are putting so many lives at danger such as animals, plants and crops.
The release also stated that NDRF Imphal team will be planting 2000 sapling with local clubs in the coming days at different locations.
