For the seventh time, New Hope Life Foundation For Disabilities distributed aid including wheel chairs, blankets, plastic containers and cash to 17 differently-abled people during a programme held at Tera Lukram Leirak Pukhri Achouba community hall on Friday.
The programme was attended by AMUCO president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang as chief guest and Foundation's founder president Debendra Chingangbam as functional president, while Tokyo Olympic silver medallist Saikhom Mirabai's mother Tombi Devi, Foundation treasurer Asha Chingangbam, Nupi Weavers' Welfare Association Lukram Leirak president Roni Mayengbam and secretary Margaret Takhellakpam were present as guests of honour.
Speaking at the event, AMUCO president Ph Nando Luwang stressed that the government and the public should support organisations and individuals working for the welfare of differently abled people.
While stating that AMUCO has been extending support for the past many years to CSOs in their endeavour to ease hardships besetting the differently abled people, he suggested that the state government take up special programmes for the differently abled people.
Social Welfare Department should also distribute items procured for them in timely manner in collaboration with CSOs supporting differently abled people, he added.
