Imphal, January 21 2022:
As part of its continuing academic campaign 'Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamsi', Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) organised an orientation programme at Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai Junior High School on Friday.
The orientation programme was attended by teachers and students of the school as well as local elders and executive members of MSF, which also presented note books, pens and pencils to the students.
According to a statement of MSF, COVID-19 pandemic has given severe impact to the society in every sector for more than one and half years in addition to affecting health, economy, agricultural activities and education system.
Modern education system is unsuitable in Manipur and the government must formulate policy applicable in the state, it added.
Taking into consideration of fu ture of students, the government decided to reopen regular classes from standard IX and above from November 10,2021 and accordingly all the educational institutions reopened.
MSF has been conducting inspection of educational institutions to ascertain if schools maintain COVID-19 protocols but found that the number of students attending physical classes was very less, it conveyed, while adding that lack of alternative arrangement is the primary reason for students of government schools in standard I to VIII denied access to proper education though private schools are preparing to commence aeademic session for the year 2022 through their own annual examination system.
It also appealed to government to find an alternative means to begin examination of students studying in government schools.
