Imphal, January 21 2022:
People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) has stated that it is disappointing to see that the Indo-Naga peace talks have come to a deadlock-like-situation.
The party believes that true peace and harmony in the region will come only when this talk is finalised and implemented, said PDA PDA president L Seth and vice president Ramthing Hungyo in a joint statement.
It mentioned that the PDA is a political party established with a goal to usher in peace and harmony in the North-Eastern region of the country.
It was of great joy to see Prime Minister Narendra Modi declaring a major step towards concluding the peace talks with the signing of the Framework Agreement on August 3, 2015.But much to the disappointment, the declaration is yet to be materialised so far, the duo maintained.
PDA emphasised that it believes that both the NSCN-IM and Government of India (Gol) will soon achieve a breakthrough and a such urged for upholding the commitment given by the Gol to have the 'highest level of the country involved in the talk' as done in the past.
While expressing that there is possibility of a breakthrough if all the commitments and agreements arrived in the past are respected and honoured, the PDA maintained that assemblies of any state passing resolutions or decisions opposing the Framework Agreement should be treated as an attempt to stop peace and harmony to prevail.
The party will in no manner agree to such resolutions passed or yet to be passed, but oppose them tooth and nail, it asserted.
PDA reaffirmed its stand that the only true solution can come in the form of a mutually agreed agreement i.e., the Framework Agreement of 3rd August, 2015 and expressed hope that both the negotiating parties will respect each other and bring about a solution that is respectable and honourable.
