Imphal, January 21 2022:
ACOAM Lup Kangleipak finance secretary M Binu Meitei has said that it will start taking action against private hospitals and diagnostic centres if they fail to clarify the reason for taking COVID-19 testing charges more than the rates fixed by the health department.
Addressing media per sons in this regard at its Lamphel office on Friday, Binu said that ACOAM Lup has taken serious note of charging more money for COVID-19 than the rates fixed by the government when people are still hit hard by the pandemic.
He then asked the private health centres and diagnostic centres concerned to clarify on the matter or else face the music.
According to Binu MeiiS, the State Technical Expert Committee formed under the directorate of health services on April 22, 2021 notified that rate for RT PCR and RAT testing by private hospitals should be Rs 1400 and Rs 310 respectively.
However, private hospitals and diagnostic centres are charging an additional amount of Rs 400 for RT PCR and Rs 400/500 against the Rs 310 fixed by the government for RAT testing.
This indeed is very unfortunate and ACOAM Lup will start looking into the matter seriously so as to take necessary action, he added.
