Security beefed up for R-Day, polls

Imphal, January 21 2022:
Ahead of the Republic bay celebration and the upcoming Assembly elections, police have beefed up security measures in several parts of the state and conducted cordon and search operations in different localities.
According to a police report, team of Imphal East CDO conducted cordon and search operation at KR Lane and Checkon area Friday between 6:15 and 7:45 am.
The team searched around 120 houses including rented accommodations in the area and verified its residents.
Similarly, team of Thoubal Police led by additional SP (Ops) O Wangkhomba conducted search operation at Haokha Maning Leikai between 5:30 and 7 am during which around 80 houses were searched and 320 individuals verified.
Meanwhile, a combined team of Bishnupur Police led by additional SP (Ops) Roni Mayengbam along with CDO team and31 AR troops conducted cordon and search operation at Khodrak area and searched around 70 houses.
However, there is no report of any arrest made during the searches.
