Heart screening camp conducted in Mizoram

RBSK/NHM Mizoram and Shija Hospitals & Research Institute jointly organised a one-day "Free Heart Disease Screening Camp" for children (0-18 years) at DIEC Kulikawn, Aizawl on Tuesday.
In a release, Shija informed that a total of 210 children were screened by a team led by Shija Heart Beat cardio thoracic & vascular consultant surgeon Dr Sidhartha Lukram.
During the camp free consultation and ECHO screening services were provided to all registered individuals, said the release, adding that ASD, VSD and PDA device closure, and open surgery cases were detected during ECHO screening.
These children will be treated at Shija Heart Beat under the RBSK Scheme, the release added.
RBSK is a National Rural Health Mission programme that aims at early identification and intervention for children from birth to 18 years who are diagnosed with Congenital Heart Defects (CHDs), surgical treatment of Cleft lip and Cleft Palate, Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH), Congenital Cataract, Congenital Deafness, Retinopathy of Prematurity, Otitis Media, Dental Caries and Vision Impairment.
