Poumai Naga Union condemns torching of excavator

Poumai Naga Union (PNU), the apex civil body of Poumai community, has strongly condemned the torching of an excavator near Liyai Khunou in Senapati district.
The excavator belonged to NHIDCL, which is engaged in the construction of NH-101 A, Tadubi-Tolloi road.
Functionaries of the Union along with members of its frontal organisations including the Poumai Naotoumai Me (PNM) and Poumai Naga Students Union (PNTM) made a spot inquiry into the incident where machineries of NHIDCL for construction of Tadubi Tolloi road were burnt down by unknown miscreants.
An excavator was damaged beyond repair and a roller too targeted by the perpetrators.
On further inquiry, it came to light that no one had claimed responsibility for the act of arson till date although the incident took place on the night of November 11.In a condemnation note, PNU stated that the destructive incident is outrageous at it tarnished image of the Poumai people and its land as the incident happened in Poumai jurisdiction.
The PNU views the destructive incident seriously and thereby asks the person(s) responsible to come out clean, it said and declared that barbarism of such nature shall not be tolerated in Poumai area.
The Union further demanded responsible authorities to investigate and book the culprit(s) involved in the incident at the earliest.
Many other CSOs, villages and students' bodies of Poumai community also condemned the incident terming it as stumbling block to development in the region.
