Rikhumai Women Society holds annual conference

The 30th Annual Conference of Rikhumai Taphou Women Society was held with Naga People's Organisation president Solomon Arow as chief guest, Rikhumai Taphou village chairman P Johna as functional president and Tungjoy Women Society advisor & former principal MVCC, Kohima, PH John as resource person.
During his speech, Solomon Arow described the village's women society as a well-organised body and lauded the women of different colonies for presenting different cultural items, giving a message of the need to preserve one's culture when many youngsters are on the verge of following the western culture.
While lauding Tungjoy villagers for their warm hospitality, the NPO president urged them to teach the village's good qualities to others.
PH John, meanwhile, spoke on the theme "Women's role in shaping the present-day world" as the resource person of the day.
He stated that the world of men cannot be called beautiful without women, adding that the world is more beautiful with women.
The resource person also said that the women's conference was organised to make the world a better place to live in.
He continued that a woman's beauty is in her character and deeds, adding that women's education was neglected in the past but now girls have surpassed boys in terms of education on different occasions.
The world cannot grow up in different spheres if there is disparity between men and women.
With the central government giving importance to women's empowerment for growth of society, the post of president and other high positions have been given to women, PH John said while urging all women to come up with more good ideas for betterment of the family and society.
Dressed in traditional attires, women from four colonies of the village presented different cultural items.
Election for new tenure followed after the formal programme.
