Covid claims 1 more to take total to 2129

Imphal, July 28 2022:
Death continues to strike as one more Covid infected lady from Imphal West succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours to take the cumulative number of deaths to 2129.The deceased person had no co-morbidities and she was not vaccinated, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room quoting the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee.
On July 27, Manipur had recorded two deaths and in the month of July alone, the State has seen 7 deaths so far.
The virus also continues to infect with 77 persons all testing positive in the last 24 hours.
The 77 positive cases were detected while testing a total of 808 samples to take the daily positivity rate to 9.5 percent.
The positive status of the 77 persons, including 22 women, was confirmed during testing at RIMS (5), JNIMS (2) and other testing centres (70) .
The 77 persons who tested positive, all civilians, are from Imphal East (10), Imphal West (37), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (2), Kangpokpi (1), Ukhrul (3), Churachandpur (13) and Chandel (4) .
On the other hand, 101 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours from home isolation (69), RIMS (4), JNIMS (1) and 'discharged' (27) (a term used by the COVID-19 Common Control Room).
The recovery rate now stands at 98.04 percent with the cumulative number of recovered cases put at 1,36,167 inclusive of 5007 Central security personnel.
With the addition of 77 more cases, the cumulative number of infected persons now stands at 1,38,886 including 5017 Central security personnel.
The number of active cases is npw 590 (civilians-587 and Central security personnel-3).On July 27 a total of 7985 vaccines were administered to take the total number of doses administered to 30,88,969 including 12,83,920 second dose and 1,93,387 precautionary dose.
Overall 53.89 percent of the eligible population have received the second dose of the vaccine while 62.18 percent have received the first dose.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 80 D Type oxygen cylinders and 20 B Type oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State.
