Justina Yendrembam is the elder of two children of Yendrembam Amarjit Singh and Yendrembam Ongbi Somola Devi of Kangla Siphai Makha Leikai, Imphal East.
Her father is a DDK Imphal van driver (contract) and mother is a homemaker.
Her little brother Jimbus is studying in Class VIII.
Speaking to The Sangai Express this evening, Justina said she is happy with the result (of the examination) and remarked she never thought she would be the topper.
"I never dreamt about securing the top position.
In fact, I never tried and studied with such an aim.
I simply studied at my level best and tried to do everything right to understand and grasp what was taught by the teachers," Justina said adding she refers to books to clear any doubt she has on her own.
When asked how many hours she devoted to studying before examinations, Justina said she never keeps track of the time and can't quantify the amount of hours she studied.
She said she mostly studied at night.
"Before examinations, I studied till late into the night.
I prefer night time for studying.
I do very little studying in the morning," she said.
On her future plans and ambitions, Justina said she would pursue further studies at the Dhanamanjuri College of Commerce.
"There are not many Chartered Accountants in Manipur.
I opted for Commerce in Class XI following the advice of my uncle (Y Premchandra).
I would like to become a successful Chartered Accountant and serve the people in that capacity," Justina said.
Regarding her views on the trending tuition culture, Justina said she didn't join any coaching classes in Class XI but in Class XII she joined one for Accountancy.
"As I wanted to improve on Accountancy, I joined classes of Sir Dhamen.
It was very helpful," Justina said but emphasised that rampant tuition culture and depending everything on tuitions alone will not help at all.
"Moreover, poor families like us find it hard to cover the expenses of joining coaching classes," she said giving credit for her success to her parents, uncle Y Premchandra, family members and teachers.
Justina also wished the State defeats the coronavirus soon so that students can return to schools.
Her father, Y Amarjit expressed happiness and said Justina is a "good child" and "hardworking" .
Her mother, Y Ongbi Somola too said she is overwhelmed with the result of her daughter.
She wished her every success in her future.
