Imphal, July 17 2020:
The recent killing of six NSCN(IM) cadre including two from Manipur, Somaya Shatsang, Huishu village, Ukhrul district and Somipam Shaiza of Chamu village, Kamjong district, by the Assam Rifles and Arunachal Police is unfortunate and a great loss for the State, said United Committee Manipur (UCM) today.
Condoling the demise of the "two sons of Manipur", UCM in a statement asserted that the Government of India has not been able to settle the 23 year long peace talks.
It is high time, the Naga brethren and all to ponder and study who are to be trusted in this juncture.
The killing of the cadres has raised serious questions on the approach and agenda of the Government of India, said UCM accusing the Centre of adopting divide and rule policy in the North East including the State of Manipur.
Appealing all concerned not to let 'outsiders' intervene and judge the internal issues, UCM questioned if the Government of India is trustworthy to settle the peace process.
It also asked if only the Government of India is the able and authority that can solve the issues at hand and appealed all concerned to sit together and deliberate on the issues to find a long lasting solution that will ensure peace for all.
