RIMS doctor tests COVID positive : Ukhrul sees big jump with 25 new positive cases in last 24 hours

Imphal, July 17 2020:
A doctor who is doing PG course in Physiology Department of RIMS was tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.
After the doctor who is now in the final year of PG course was tested positive for COVID-19, RIMS has closed both Physiology and Biochemistry departments.
On the other hand, the woman ASI of Thoubal district police who contracted COVID-19 when she went to Jiribam recently has denied talking with the Moijing Gram Panchayat Pradhan who too has been tested positive for the contagion.

It is said that the woman ASI went to Jiribam for duty on June 26 and she did not talk with the Pradhan on the day or earlier.
After she was tested positive on July 6, the ASI underwent COVID-19 treatment at the CCC Meitram from the next day.
Her sample was tested negative on July 14 following which she stayed under home quarantine from July 15 .
36 more test positive: Altogether 36 persons (20 males and 16 females) have been tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours.
They belong to the districts of Bishnupur (3), Churachandpur (2), Jiribam (1), Thoubal (5) and Ukhrul (25) .
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, all the positive people have been taken to different COVID care facilities.
All of them, except four persons from Thoubal and one student of RIMS are returnees from other States.
Meanwhile, 34 persons who were undergoing treatment for COVID-19 have been discharged from different COVID Care Centres during the last 24 hours.
Nine of them were treated at JNIMS, one at RIMS, 14 at CCC Meitram, four at CCC RD Wing Lamphel, four at CCC Senapati and two at CCC Ukhrul.
The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the State as of Friday is 1800.The number of active and recovered cases are 637 and 1163 respectively which means that the recovery rate is 64.61 per cent.
Following detection of new COVID cases in the district, Thoubal district Deputy Commissioner has declared Moijing Gram Panchayat Ward No 1, 6, 8 and 10 as containment zones and initiated active surveillance.
