Imphal, December 12 2014 :
The Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) Students' Wing has appealed to the State Government to ban all kinds of games which involve betting or staking of money.
Speaking to media persons at their Nongmeibung office this afternoon, convenor of the students' wing Moirangthem Angamba Meitei said that dice and other similar games involving betting and which are being played in different parts of the State as a part of seasonal fairs would have serious impacts on the society.
Some people, particularly outsiders, have been organising such games with the sole motive of earning huge profits.
JCILPS is also aware that there are some cliques whose primary activity is organising fairs which unfailingly feature all sorts of betting games, Angamba said.

JCILPS members saw people playing these betting games at the fairs being held at Yaingangpokpi, Waiton and Yourabung.
Even as organisers of the three fairs were invited for a meeting with JCILPS today, none of them turned up.
As such, all the three ongoing fairs have been banned with immediate effect until an understanding is reached.
The fair being held at Yaingangpokpi has no name and 90 per cent of the stalls are for playing games which involve betting.
These games are being played quite openly even though there is a police station just a few metres away.
Local people of Yourabung and Waiton too used strong and abusive words against volunteers of JCILPS Students' Wing.
In case, JCILPS comes across dice or similar games at any fair, the organisers and the Government should be held responsible for any untoward incident resulting thereof, Angamba warned.
Saying that a joint meeting would be organised by the students' wing on December 15 at 11 am, Angamba appealed to all organisers of seasonal fairs to attend the meeting without fail.
Later, articles related with dice and similar games were set ablaze in front of the media team.
