Imphal, November 10 2015:
Kick-Boxing Association, Manipur President RK Joysana on Tuesday appealed the people of the State not to call or impose any bandh, general strike or economic blockade.
Calling all hill tribes and people of Jiribam not to resume their proposed economic blockades which had been suspended on the occasion of Ningol Chakouba festival, RK Joysana stated that imposing or calling bandh or general strike is against the country's law and constitution.
He pointed out that the people should instead follow the rules of law which already exist.
During an interaction with media persons at Manipur Press Club, Imphal, RK Joysana said that he had earlier filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Manipur High Court against the bandh/blockade imposers and the hearing will be conducted within four weeks.
"Before the hearing started, I request the court to declare United Naga Council (UNC) as an unlawful council," said RK Joysana and appealed all to stop using bandh or blockade as means while pressing for their demands.
He also requested the media not to publish any bandh/blockade related news item and demanded the court to "give shoot-at-sight order to bandhs and blockade imposers" .
RK Joysana further stated that the respondent No 1 on the case was the Union Home Secretary while the Chief Secretary and the DGP of the State are Respondent No 2 and 3 respectively apart from the security forces.
