Governor, CM lead in Diwali greetings

Governor of Manipur V Shanmuganathan, Chief Minister O Ibobi, Dy CM and MPCC president Gaikhangam, Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Lokeshwar Singh, GOC Red Shield Division and 1G AR (S) and others have extended heartiest greetings to the people of the State on the joyous and auspicious occasion of Diwali.
Governor V Shanmuganathan in his greeting message said that Diwali, one of the biggest festivals of the Hindus also popularly known as 'festival of light,' signifies the triumph of the good over evil.
The illumination on this day marks the joy and happiness on the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana.
"Let the light of Diwali dispel hatred, enmity and disunity among the people of the State," the Governor wished while urging all concerned to join in the celebration and pray that the festival brings peace and prosperity to the State.
CM O Ibobi said that Diwali is a harbinger of peace, joy and prosperity.
'It is an occasion for strengthening bonds of friendship and goodwill between people of all communities and religions.
May the noble ideals of the festival usher in peace, prosperity and happiness in our lives," the CM wished.
In his message to the people, the Deputy CM wished that the day brings peace and prosperity to the people.
"Let the festival of light which falls on the darkest night of the month illuminate each and every individual of our society with knowledge, compassion and oneness just as the light drives darkness away for a peaceful coexistence among communities in our society," Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Th Lokeshwar Singh wished.
Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai, LokSabha MP Dr T Meinya, chairman of Vichar Vibhag, MPCC M Olen also conveyed hearti-est greetings to the people on the occasion of Diwali.
Maj Gen PN Rao, GOC Red Shield Division extended heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights.
Wishing every citizen a happy and prosperous Diwali, the GOC urged the people to recall the teaching of compassion, love and kindness of the Lord on this auspicious occasion and live in harmony to ensure collective progress of the State.
Major General VS Sreenivas, IG AR (South) and all ranks of Assam Rifles have also extended warm greetings and sincere goodwill to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.
The IGAR wished that the occasion promotes goodwill and understanding amongst people of all castes, creed and religions.
"Let the lights of Diwali dispel hostility, conflict, mistrust and disaffection among the people and herald an era of peace, progress and prosperity in the region enhancing the spirit of unity, cohesiveness and brotherhood," the IGAR wished.
