EGM adopts 5-point resolution

Editors' Guild, Manipur (EGM) has adopted a 5-point resolution on key issues including publishing/entertaining press statements.
The resolution was adopted after a proceeding of the EGM held at 4 pm on November 9 with EGM President A Mobi in the Chair.
After a discussion, EGM adopted the following 5-point resolutions.
No.1: The Editors Guild Manipur decided to stick to its earlier stand of not publishing/entertaining any press statement that did not meet the criteria set down in a joint meeting of the Editors and AMWJU.
No.2: Accordingly it has been decided that any group which releases press statement must have been listed in the record books of the State government (State) and other non state actors who (which) have been declared unlawful by the State (Govt) No.3: In cases of any changes in the name/nomenclature of any organization, officiating positions and officials in any organisations, it must be adequately proved through proper resolutions, the authenticity of the person and organization.
No.4: In the case of editing or publication of any material contents of a press statement, all the media houses in Manipur under the EGM will stick to the PCI guidelines/recommendations as well as journalistic ethics prevailing nationally and internationally.
No 5: Resolve to appeal to all organisations not to treat the newspapers and media outlets as notice boards for making threats of making unsubstantiated allegations against any individuals.
