State Level Women Sports Competitions conclude : IE secure 35 points to emerge overall team champion

Imphal, November 10 2015:
The State Level Women Sports Competitions, organised by Department of Youth Affairs and Sports (DYAS) under the aegis of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA) concluded today with Imphal East winning the overall team champion securing 35 points at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal.
The closing ceremony of the competitions was graced by Youth Affairs (YAS) and Sports Secretary RK Dinesh Singh (IAS), YAS Director W Bhaktaraj Singh as chief guest and president respectively.
Imphal East clinched titles in the disciplines of athletics, handball, gymnastics and swimming; bagged runner-up titles in the badminton, tennis and volleyball and secured third place in the disciplines of basketball, table tennis and hockey.
Overall team runner-up Thoubal took the titles of badminton, tennis, kho-kho and table tennis; bagged runner-up titles in handball, hockey and swimming and secured third place in athletics.
The march-past contingent title went to Bishnupur team.
In today's hockey final match, Imphal West defeated Thoubal by a margin of 3 goals to one.
The winning goals were scored by Th Suchitra (2nd), Kh Lanleibi (14th) and Kh Sileima (19th) while the solitary goal of Thoubal was netted by Nirupama (20th) .
Volleyball : Bishnupur clinched the volleyball title by defeating Imphal East 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-17).In the third place match, Churachandpur registered an easy 3-0 (25-1 1, 25-20, 25-14) win over Chandel.
Kabaddi : Imphal East edged past Bishnupur 39-38 to lift the trophy while Tamenglong bagged the third place after defeating Chandel 51 -24 .
Earlier in the semi finals, Imphal West crushed Tamenglong 53-16 while Bishnupur thrashed Chandel 52-14 in the second semifinal match.
Kho-Kho : Thoubal trounced Tamenglong 10-3 in the final match of the kho-kho while Chandel bagged the third place title after defeating Imphal East 5-3 .
Earlier in the semi-finals, Tamenglong outclassed Imphal West 7-1 while in another semi-final match Thoubal downed Chandel 7-2 .
Handball : Imphal East registered a narrow 16-12 win against Thoubal in the handball final while Bishnupur claimed an easy 12-6 win over Imphal West to bag the third place title.
Earlier in the semi-finals, Imphal East beat Imphal West 15-6 and Thoubal defeated Bishnupur 14-7 .
Athletics : In the 1500 m race, N Chaoba (IE) took 5.27.12 sec to clinch the title while S Anarita (TBL) and B Sahila (TBL) finished on 5.52.77 sec and 6.08.29 sec respectively to bag the second and third positions.
L Chaoba (IE) - 4.36 m, Y Sanatombi (IW) - 4.10 m and Ng Romibala (IE) - 4.03 m respectively clinched the first, second and third positions in the long jump event.
In the 100 m hurdle race, S Inakhunbi (IE) finished on
12.12 sec winning the first position while W Rabiya (TBL) and R Rita (Senapati) secured 22.53 sec and 32.73 sec to bag the second and third positions respectively.
In the 200 m race, K Jibanlata (IE) - 30.09 sec, ShRubani (TBL)-31.37 sec and D Samina (TBL) - 32.52 sec grabbed the first, second and third positions respectively.
In javelin throw, M Sandhyarani (TBL) - 19.90 m, Rabina (Senapati) - 18^51 m and D Samina (TBL) -18.45 m secured the first, second and third place titles.
Swimming : H Christina (Churachandpur) took 1.31.31 sec to clinch the 100 m freestyle title while Meerabai A (IE) and Sonali Th (TBL) finished on 1.32.91 sec and 1.32.97 sec to bag the second and third place titles respectively.
In the 100 m backstroke event, L Jessica (IE) - 1.36.12 sec secured the first position while K Urvashi (IW) - 1.38.62 sec and S Chaoba (IE) - 1.50.05 sec won the second and third positions.
In the 100 breaststroke event, H Christina (Churachandpur) - 1.48.21 sec, Henthoibi (IE) - 1.49.28 sec and Th Saya (TBL) -1.55.25 sec won the first, second and third positions respectively.
In the 400 m freestyle event, Ksh Sonam (TBL) -7.19.11 sec, H Joyshree (IE) - 7.24.91 sec and S Chaoba (IE) - 8.47.26 sec won the first, second and third positions respectively.
In the 200 m freestyle event, Sonali Th (TBL) -3.19.49 sec, H Joyshree (IE) - 3.27.96 sec and Meerabai A (IE) - 3.24.20 sec secured the first, second and third positions respectively.
In the 200 m backstroke event, L Jessica (IE) took 3.23.13 sec to win the first position while K Urvashi (IW) and Premika Th (IE) finished on 3.31.13 sec and 3.36.22 sec to secure the second and third positions.
In the 200 m breaststroke event, Th Nitalibala (TBL) -3.57.61 sec, Matilda L (IE) - 4.01.86 sec and P Babina (IE) - 4.17.57 sec won the first, second and third positions respectively.
Thoubal - 6.15.78 sec clinched the 4X100 freestyle relay title while IE - 7.08.57 sec and IW - 8.05.33 sec bagged the second and third place titles.
In the 4X100 medley relay, IE - 7.11.94 sec, Thoubal - 7.30.14 sec and IW - 7.59.49 sec won the first, second third positions respectively.
