Ukhrul, December 02 2015:
Alleging that the CARE Rehab Centre in Ukhrul has caused a proliferation of drug abuses and immorality rather than addressing the issues, All Hunphun Tang Association (AHTA), a conglomerate of 27 localities of Ukhrul town, has resolved to ban operation of the centre within its jurisdiction.
"CARE Rehab Centre has been functioning at the old District Veterinary Office near MPR, Kamphasom Tang for over a year but the centre's poor functioning has turned the centre into a haven for drug addicts, gang fights, theft and immorality which are terrible in the eyes of the public," AHTA stated in a press release.
Stating that the matter has drawn wide public attention as it is worsening by the day to the extent of threat and intimation endangering the lives of the inhabitants of Kamphasom locality, the association warned that the ulterior motive of Columbus Leisan Chief Functionary of CARE Rehab Centre in "causing a threat to the peaceful coexistence of the locality cannot be tolerated in our cultured society." AHTA then said that the CARE Rehab Centre would not be allowed to operate within the jurisdiction of 27 localities of Ukhrul Town under any circumstances.
It also said that the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Ukhrul had served to the chief functionary of the centre orders bearing No.16/6/11-DC (Ukl) dated 26th and 24th Nov 2015 respectively calling for vacating of the centre.
"But the centre has not honoured or adhered to the orders till date," alleged AHTA.
Demanding that the centre honours the orders of the DC in good faith by vacating, the association has warned that in the event of any untoward incident in the locality of Kamphasom, Columbus Leisan would be held responsible.
