After completion of the six-day remand, Ramananda was produced in the court of CJM, Imphal West on Wednesday by the Lamphel Police but he was rearrested by a team of Imphal Police Station in connection with another case.
The incident of "eating cooked human flesh" was allegedly disclosed by Ramananda himself when he was interrogated by a special team of Imphal West District Police in the case of threatening a Medical Officer-in-Charge of one Community Health Centre in Imphal East District.
The story was well explained in the statement submitted by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Lamphel who is the investigating officer (IO) of the case, said the source.
The source said that Ramananda has allegedly disclosed an incident when Assam Rifles (AR) personnel posted at Pallel apprehended a person identified as one Tomba of Kwakeithel Moirangpurel and handed him over to be kept at the designated camp of KCP (Lallumba).
In their custody, leader of the organisation Lallumba allegedly ordered Ramananda to kill Tomba and asked him not to leave any evidence, informed the source.
It has been alleged that Ramananda further ordered one cadre of the organisation Boimacha to "kill Tomba and cook the flesh and serve it to around 30 other cadres who were lodged in the designated camp" .
As per Ramananda's order, Boimacha allegedly murdered Tomba and cooked the flesh and served the same to the cadres.
Ramananda allegedly disclosed eating the cooked flesh himself, said the source and mentioned that the remaining parts of Tomba's mortal remains were allegedly consigned to flames inside the designated camp leaving no evidence at all.
The source further disclosed that when inquired, Boimacha who allegedly killed Tomba and cooked his flesh succumbed to an illness in his home.
Investigation is underway to trace the identity of the cadres who were staying in the designated camp when the incident happened.
However, as per the statement of Ramananda, the cadres were informed of the cooked human flesh only after they ate it.
The source further revealed that the AR team handed over Tomba who was an alleged cadre of KCP (Nando).
However, it was not sure whether or not Tomba actually belonged to KCP (Nando).
Police are also said to be still clueless about the identity of Tomba even after inquiring about him in Kwakeithel Moirangpurel area.
A police team had already spoken to leader of one KCP faction Nando in Sajiwa Central Jail but Nando has denied having any knowledge of Tomba, added the source.
The source also mentioned that the incident of the consuming cooked human flesh took place during the peak period of factional killings between factions of KCP (Lallumba) and KCP (Nando).
Number of Lallumba's cadres were said to be killed by Nando's group while many cadres of Nando were allegedly killed by Lallumba's group.
Ramananda is also said to have disclosed an incident when one cadre of KCP (Lallumba) identified as Kiran alias Sakhen was found dead in Saikul area.
The case of the eating cooked human flesh comes under Heingang Police Station of Imphal East District.
Ramananda who was remanded in the custody of Imphal Police Station on Wednesday might be arrested again by Imphal East District Police.
The source also stated that Ramananda started disclosing involvement of cadres who are recruited by security forces for kidnappings and extortions.
Armed groups are allegedly set up by security forces in the name of counter insurgency operations, alleged the source.
It may also be mentioned that since Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), 1958 was clamped in Manipur many innocent people were held by suspected security personnel or personnel on civil dresses.
Those who have disappeared in such cases were still yet to be traced.
