Imphal, December 02 2015:
Taking cognizance of the existence of multiple connections in a single household, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has taken up measures requiring submission of Aadhar cards to check rampant practice of multiple connections.
According to a source from the IOC, Aadhar seeding of LPG consumer's bank account has been taken up on a war footing.
Collection of photostat copy of consumers' Aadhar cards and Aadhar seeding of LPG consumers bank account will check the practice of multiple connections.
Huge subsidy amount provided to LPG consumers has been lost due to the presence of multiple connections.
A huge amount of money from the Govt exchequer has been spent in giving subsidy to LPG consumers.
According to the source, there are a total of 64 LPG distributors in the State with around 3,25,330 active consumers.
Among these 46,996 are Cash Transfer Compliant (CTC) consumersconsumers who completed Aadhar seeding.
There are 207560 Bank Transfer Compliant (BTC) consumersconsumers who completed bank account seeding.
The total number of DBTL consumers who have received subsidy amount through both CTC and BTC is 254566 .
All 207560 BTC consumers are now required to submit their Aadhar cards under the ongoing drive of the IOC.
Besides the BTC consumers, all active consumers can no longer be DBTL consumers and avail subsidy unless they submit either their bank account or Aadhar card details.
The source further said that communication is being sent through respective mobile numbers of consumers regarding the Aadhar seeding.
Besides, the campaign is taken out by displaying banners requiring submission of Aadhar details at showrooms and prominent places.
The cash memo of BTC consumers who fail to submit their Aadhar card will be segregated, the source added.
As per a Supreme Court order, the Government of India is allowed to collect the Aadhar card details which may be used for distribution of subsidy in LPG.
As such all those consumers who have not submitted the Aadhar card details earlier are required to submit immediately so that subsidy distribution goes on smoothly, the source informed.
