PSO decries fee collection at Govt school

Students of Lilong Haoreibi Awang Leikai Tera Makhong Upper Primary School have been debarred from appearing in the school's annual exam for failing to clear their admission fees.
Pangal Students Organisation (PSO) president MA Wakil Alsari said Lilong Haoreibi Awang Leikai Tera Makhong Upper Primary School Headmaster Fazal Ali has been collecting admission fees from the students of the upper primary since 2012 against the RTE Act.
PSO came to learn about the alleged wrongdoings only after a group of victimised students approached the organisation seeking help, the president said.
The school authorities have allegedly collected approximately Rs 2,34,000 from its 264 students as admission fees in 2015.The amount amassed from students is being allegedly utilised for paying two guest teachers, the organisation president alleged.
He further maintained that the school authorities have only arranged one mid-day meal and distributed 2kg rice each to its students this year.
The school authorities also allegedly charge its students with absent fines, Wakil Alsari said.
Demanding reimbursement of admission fees, the organisation has appealed to the School authorities to arrange a special exam for the students debarred today.
The association has also called the attention of the authorities concerned on the matter.
