Lecture, security meet held

Shangshak Battalion of IGAR (S) organised a lecture programme on anti-drug abuse under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan at Shangshak village in Ukhrul district on Thursday during which a total of 57 local youths including students took the solemn oath to fight against drug abuse and get involved in nation-building activities.
The local populace applauded the efforts made by Assam Rifles for organising such an event and requested to frequently conduct these kinds of lectures so that the local youth and students can be benefited, said a release by PRO IGAR (S).
The PRO also informed that Khoupum Battalion of IGAR (S) organised a security and coordination meet at Nungbai village, in Noney district on Thursday.
The meet saw a healthy participation of village representatives from Nungbai, Pungsang and Chinmay Naga villages that included village authorities, women associations and youth.
The meet provided the platform to discuss the security situation in the region, enhance co-ordination between security forces and villagers for a safe environment Villagers were also informed about Various developmental schemes of central and state government and employment opportunities for youth, added the PRO.
