Students' campaign enters second day

On the second day of the mass campaign launched by the Coordinating Committee on Disturbance Free Educational Zone Demand, an awareness programme was held at Special Regular English School, Nambol today.
During the awareness programme, the committee members sensitized the students about carrying out the campaign and why such demands have been raised.
After the awareness programme, a huge number of students came out and formed a human chain at the main road and raised many slogans.
Speaking at the occasion, Secretary of education and academic affairs, DESAM Head Office, Thounaojam Somol Luwang appealed to the authorities concerned to fully implement the Manipur Private School Registration and Regulation Act, 2017 .
Expressing concern over the frequent disturbances faced by the educational institutions across the State, he said that problems such as bandh, blockade etc pose hindrance to academic atmosphere thereby threatening the well-being of the students.
Therefore he urged the Government to draft an appropriate act to ensure that education remains a free zone from all sorts of disturbances.
