Court extends police remand of LFS blast accused

The Court of CJM Imphal West on Thursday remanded Thounaojam Rishi Luwangcha (46) s/o (L) Th Selung of Kangla Sangomshang Makha Leikai, who was arrested by Imphal West Commando in connection with the bomb blast at Little Flower School, to three days in policecustody.
On Thursday, a team of Lamphel PS produced Rishi before the court and made a prayer for extending the police remand of the accused ip police custody for 3 more days so as to facilitate in further investigation.
As per the report submitted by the case 10, on June 5, Imphal West Police Control Room received a report at around 3.17 am that a bomb suspected to be an IED had been triggered by unidentified miscreants at Gate no 2 of Little Flower School, Kwakeithel at around 3.12 am.
Lamphel PS took up a suo moto case in this regard and launched an investigation.
During the course of the investigation, SP Imphal West received a message which said that Thounaojam Rishi Luwangcha, who had already been arrested by Lamlai PS in another FIR, was connected with the bomb blast at Little Flower School.
The accused was arrested by Lamlai PS after which he was formally taken into custody by Porompat PS for another FIR as well and then arrested by Lamphel PS in connection with the blast.
Thus, the IO made a prayer to the Court to remand the accused to 3 days in police custody for further investigation.
After listening to the submissions of the IO and the APP, the Court accepted the prayer and remanded accused Rishi in police custody till June 18, while further ordering the IO to conduct medical check-up of the accused every 48 hours.
