FIFA WC matches screened in Chandel villages

Kakching Sector Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) organised live screening of FIFA World Cup matches for locals of border villages in Chandel district with effect from November 20 .
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that football is a craze in Manipur as it is common to see girls and boys playing with zest in make shift playground.
The game has turned into poncey state courtesy World Cup conducted since November 20 in Qatar.
But the border villages of Chandel district are deprived of live telecast of tournament because of absence of electricity.
As such, Assam Rifles took the initiative of organising live screening of football matches for locals of border areas by installing a mini amphitheatre.
The enthusiasm of the villagers has been witnessed by watching them thronging in large number to witness their favourite players in the World Cup.
Although a small step taken by Assam Rifles but it will certainly influence the minds of people that their aspirations are being taken care of.
Villagers especially the youth have appreciated the efforts taken by Assam Rifles in taking care of their needs and committed themselves for all the cooperation in ensuring a peaceful relationship with Assam Rifles, the PRO elaborated.
