Assamese novel, anthology of poems released

Imphal, August 19 2022:
The Manipuri edition of 'Kuranganayani', an Assamese historical novel authored by Ila Borgohain, translated into Meeteilon by Konthoujam Jitendra was released during a function held at Hindi Parishad Hall here on Friday.
The function was attended by Manipuri Literary Society vice president Naorem Lokeshwar Singh as president, retired District and Sessions Judge Laimayum Birendrakumar as chief guest and The Historical Research Centre, Imphal president Naoroibam Indramani as guest of honour.
Manipur University Manipuri Department associate professor Wahengbam Chanu Kumari shared her thoughts on the book.
On the other hand, Covid Manunggi Thabung Tarada, an anthology of poems penned by Soubam Birdhaj was released in a function organised by Soubam Publication at Manipur Legislative Assembly Museum and Archives Hall here on Friday.
The function was attended by the Directorate of Tourism director Waikhom Ibohal, DIPR ex-di-rector and national awardee film critic Meghachandra Kongbam and Sahitya Akademi awardee Makhonmani Mongsaba as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Sahitya Akademi Yuva Purushkar awardee Chongtham Dipu spoke about the book.
Speaking on the occasion, Soubam Birdhaj conveyed that he was able to fulfil his dreams of being a writer during the pandemic, when he started writing the poems from July 14 onwards.
