Churachandpur, May 11 2021:
Regardless of the district administration imposing curfew in Churachandpur district in compliance with the steps taken up by the state government to contain the raging Covid-19 positive cases, many individuals and shops continue to defy the prohibitory orders.
Despite the effort of district police in enforcing the curfew, many people have been violating it, thereby endangering themselves as well as the public.
In order to ensure strict compliance, a large team led by Churachandpur DC and SP along with CEO-ADCC, additional DC, additional SP (Ops), additional SP (IUCAW), CCP PS OC and Women PS OC conducted surprise inspections on Tuesday morning.
As part of the crackdown, the team conducted checking at New Bazar, Hill town, D Phailian Bazar, Dorcas road, Ngulthong Bazar, Lanva, Thingkangphai, Hmar Veng, Bijang, Tuibong Bazar and Khomoi Bazar.
Many shops found flouting the curfew rules were sealed by the CEO-ADCC and their licenses are likely to be revoked.
One DI truck carrying cement bags was also detained at the police station while two cement shops were sealed and slapped monetary fine.
The district police also appealed to the public not to violate the curfew and to follow the SOPs for their own safety.
