Senapati, July 28 2021: Neglected by the authority concerned for long, young residents of Riyer Valley Colony under Makhrelui in Senapati town volunteered to repair the road leading to the colony by filling the potholes.

Youth members of the colony came out to fill the potholes with pebbles quarried from the nearby river and using a Shaktiman to transport the same.

Village secretary of River Valley Colony stated that the road leading to their colony was in pathetic condition with many potholes.

The road is also called 'mini highway' and is an important inter village road for people under Makhrelui, Senapati.

Maintenance of the road has been neglected by the authority concerned for long, he pointed out.

As the people could no longer bear to travel along the route, the local youth repaired the said road to ease the inconvenience.

The colony also expressed gratitude to Y Rolland and L Adani for sponsoring a Shaktiman for use in repairing the road.

The village secretary also urged the authority concerned to blacktop the road as it is a lifeline for people of the area.

Mention may be made here that blacktopping of the road was done way back in 2016-17 under IVR and no repair or maintenance has been done since then.
