Imphal, July 28 2021:
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test-2021 for admission to Class 6 should be rescheduled in view of the alarming situation of COVID-19 in Manipur.
Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) made the above appeal expressing concern over the preparations going on to conduct the selection test in the State amid the grim situation of COVID-19.The selection test for admission to Class 6 is scheduled on August 11 for the entire country.
KIMACS in a press release said that when the entire State is reeling due to the daily spike in Covid positive cases and fatalities and curfew and restrictions imposed by the State to curb the its further spread, the decision to hold the selection test for admission to Class 6 in JNVs is inappropriate and not called for.
Stating that there are around 21 thousand students who have registered in 12 JNVs across the State and to hold a selection test for them amid such a critical scenario is not apt for the State, KIMACS said that it will put the lives of these young students aged between 10-11 years at stake.
The said selection test which was set for April 10 was postponed at many intervals due to the alarming situation of COVID-19 in the country and has been rescheduled on August 11 but the Covid situation in Manipur is worrisome and is not suitable to hold the test, KIMACS added.
Considering the huge number of students and staff to be involved in the selection test, KIMACS urged the principals and authorities concerned of JNVs to reschedule the test when the Covid situation subsides and also sought the intervention of the Government in the matter.
