DLSA Tamenglong organises online training programme

The District Legal Services Authority, Tamenglong organized an online training programme for Para Legal Volunteers and Panel Lawyers of Tamenglong today on the topic "Chief Minister's COVID-19 Affected Livelihood Support Scheme" and "Chief Ministergi Angangi Tengbang (CMAT)" also known as "Chief Minister Bal Seva" .
It was attended by Judicial Officers, PLVs, Panel Lawyers and Civil Society Organisations, said a statement of DLSA Tamenglong.
The programme began with a welcome address by Aribam Guneshwar Sharma, MJS, District & Sessions Judge, Imphal West cum Chairman DLSA, Tamenglong.
Speaking on the occasion, Aribam Guneshwar Sharma said that the statewide prolonged lockdown of COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected the day today life of street-vendors, rickshaw pullers, passenger drivers, shopkeepers etc.
Resource person Mala Lisham, Programme Officer, Social Welfare Department, Manipur, highlighted the key features of these two beneficial schemes.
"Chief Minister COVID-19 Affected Livelihood Support Scheme" is for the benefits of daily wage earners, street-vendor, shop assistant, farmer(including fisheries, horticulture, etc), passenger service vehicle driver, school van driver etc, those without a regular source of income and without sufficient savings to fall back upon, she added.
There is a need to have additional direct income support for these vulnerable groups.
She said that although this scheme has been announced by the Government, it is not yet implemented.
Some of the benefits provided under this scheme is direct cash transfer of Rs 5,000 in 2(two) equal installments (Rs 2,500 per installment) to every identified and eligible family whose livelihood have been directly affected by covid-19.Chief Ministergi Angangi Tengbang (CMAT) is a scheme for providing assistance to children who have lost their both parents or surviving parents or legal guardians or adoptive parents and became orphaned due to COVID-19.In order to be eligible for benefits under this scheme the child should be below the age of 18 years at the time of demise of his/her parents.
The children in non-institutional care are supported with an amount of Rs 2000 per child per month under the existing scheme for child protection, she added.
Mala Lisham also spoke on various other schemes of the children.
