Imphal, October 19 2021:
Khurai AC MLA L Susindro has urged all concerned to practice politics sincerely and holistically, stating that it would be a loss for everybody if one practices it like as a profit-making business.
MLA L Susindro on Tuesday presented simple gifts and cash awards to ASHA workers and Health Workers of Khurai AC, during a function organised by Assembly Segment Covid Awareness and Enforcement Committee, Khurai at his Khurai Sajor Leikai residence.
Speaking on the occasion, Susindro noted that the fight against Covid-19 would not have been successful without the help of ASHA and health workers.
Their hard work and efforts to save the lives of the people have reaped fruit today, he asserted, while stressing that we must never forget the huge roles the workers played during the pandemic.
Announcing that ASHA workers of Khurai AC will be paid an incentive of Rs 500 for the next five years, starting from next month; the MLA said that a loan of up to Rs 2 lakh can also be availed by the ASHA workers.
However, as the ASHA workers come under a centrally sponsored scheme, the state cannot intervene too much.
Nonetheless, it is a fact that the monthly pay of ASHA workers is quite low.
As such, efforts would be made to ascertain the best way to raise the pay, he added.
While urging the people to stay vigilant against those aiming to buy their precious votes with some amount of money, which were earned through unlawful means; Susindro said that Khurai AC continues to be well prepared to prevent another outbreak of the pandemic.
He then said that he was blessed to have had the opportunity to help and serve the people during the previous waves of the pandemic.
"Every Khurai denizen has the responsibility to help make the constituency of one of the top assembly constituencies in the state," he said, while conveying that he has been able to prevent some of the man-made flash floods which were common in the constituency in the past.
During the programme, gifts and cash awards were presented to around 26 health care workers and 34 ASHA workers.
