Mera Houchongba wishes

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has wished the people of the State on the occasion of Mera Houchongba which falls on October 20 .
In a message released today, the Chief Minister said the festival is celebrated annually on the full-moon of the Manipuri month of Mera since time immemorial to promote a sense of brotherhood, peace, solidarity and unity among various indigenous communities living in the State.
The festival also reaffirms the close bond and ties between hill and valley people of the State, added the message.
Speaker Y Khemchand Singh also wished the people of the State and said it is the cultural festival of solidarity and unity of Manipur.
Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh and CAF&PD Minister Th Satyabrata Singh also extended their wishes on the occasion of Mera Houchongba.
N Loken Singh, president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), also extended his wishes to the people of Manipur for Mera Houchongba.
In a message released today, N Loken Singh said during early periods, the festival was under the royal patronage and attended by the King, nobles and dignitaries from across the communities and region wearing their respective traditional attires which presented a cultural mosaic look.
